Or “beach cemetery.” One of the newest cemeteries I have visited, this place was created in 1995. Most of the space just looks like a large wooded park because only a few hundred people have been buried so far, or ashes have been scattered and left unmarked.
Some of the many small grave stones camouflaged in the woods, decorated with lanterns , flowers, and small gifts of remembrance
This is the buddhist monument in the cemetery, one of the many different religious groups and ethnicities represented. When I was at the cemetery the Buddhist community was celebrating the 5th anniversary of their inclusion in the cemetery along with the Swedish community. I spoke with one of the religious leaders for a moment and he said, “all we are really looking for and want is peace.” I quite agree, and having an all inclusive community burial site is a just one small step!
