I took a day trip out to a part of 6th of October city, called Haram city, where there is a collection of small artist studios that are subsidized. Here I met some graphic designers, interior designer/ architect, and a sculptor. This city is relatively new and sort of in the middle of the desert. You pass a place called “dream land” on the way there. The houses are of nubian influence and have domes. Only one has been painted like the houses in Aswan, but the artists might be changing that soon.
And then I visited Khan el-Khalili, the famous narrow streets with many shops and cafes. Can’t believe it took me a month to get there.
And in the taxi home this is what the city of the dead looks like at night time. A constellation of stars from the simple light bulbs randomly placed in the streets.
