I helped paint all of these turquoise arrows leading the way to Megawra while volunteering with them today. As you walk along al-Ashraf St. / al-Khalifa street and it might be easy to get lost. The arrows add a fun designs within the neighborhood and serve a functional purpose. Everyone who passed by loved it and while my eyes were averted one little girl tried to help paint but just started splattering the wall. But that is the whole point of a community project!
The arrows totally change the space!
A while earlier the team also put signs near all of the workshops, food shops, historical monuments, and cafes that are connected to a large map at the end of the street. This clarity and open information creates a welcoming environment for visitors/ shows community investment in local business.
Even the cats want to paint!
I am obsessed with these open light billboards all over Cairo. They are beautiful Dan Flavin-esque found sculptures.
