Wrapping around the edge of the Parc del Laberint d’Horta in Barcelona is a romantic garden ending in a “false cemetery.” I was really intrigued what this “false cemetery” might be. It turns out that it is exactly what the name suggests, a false cemetery. The victorians were of course obsessed with death and the romantic garden ended with a miniature replication of a graveyard, a reminder of our universal fate. The false cemetery is now just a construction pit and it is unclear what the future holds. Are they doing a false exhumation? The grave stones are long gone, but the entrance to a tomb in the rock wall is still visible. Who knows what actually lies beneath the dirt.
More Gaudi, but who does not want that?
